Regionalization

Recent Changes in our Program

In the 20 years we’ve been caring for Jiangxi orphans, the situation in the orphanages has changed a lot. Most recently, there has been a move by the Jiangxi provincial government towards regionalization. Naturally, as things in China change, our program does, too.

 

Recent regionalization of special-needs orphans has meant many of our children have moved to larger institutions where they can get more professional rehabiliation and special education services. 

 

To keep you in the loop, we've prepared three special reports.

Here's the result of regionalization in terms of which orphanages' children have moved where.

SWI/CWI

Receiving children from smaller orphanages…

Fuzhou

… including Yihuang, Nanfeng, Nancheng, Le'an, Guangchang
Ganzhou CWI

 

Ganzhou SWI, Nankang, Xing’guo, and others and then in late 2022 from Ruijin and Ningbo

Ji’an

... including Yongfeng & others, then Taihe in 2023

Jingdezhen

Then in 2023 from Leping

These orphanages have transferred children to regional centers, so we will switch our support to follow them.

Fengcheng  

All the children have been transferred to the Yichun SWI.

Ganzhou

Currently the children are at the Ganzhou Social Welfare Institute (SWI).  It’s likely that the children at the SWI will transfer to the Children’s Welfare Institute. Hopefully, our children in foster care can remain in their foster homes.

Gao’an

The children living at the institute have been transferred to the Yichun SWI.  We’re hoping our foster children can stay in their current homes, including those attending middle school and high school.
Guangchang  All the children in this orphanage will transfer to the Fuzhou SWI by Chinese New Year 2020.

Hengfeng

Children in foster care have remained in their foster homes, while the other children have transferred to the Shangrao CWI.
Le'an All the children in this orphanage will transfer to the Fuzhou SWI by Chinese New Year 2020.
Leping All the children transferred to the Jingdezhen SWI in 2023 and their Hugging Granny moved with them
Nancheng All the children in this orphanage will transfer to the Fuzhou SWI by Chinese New Year 2020.
Nanfeng All the children in this orphanage will transfer to the Fuzhou SWI by Chinese New Year 2020.
Ruijin All the children in this orphanage transferred to the Ganzhou CWI in late 2022

Shanggao

Children in foster care will remain in their current foster homes. All other children (except two at a rehab institute in Beijing) have been transferred to the Yichun SWI.

Wanzai

Children in foster care will remain in their current foster homes. All other children (except two at a rehab institute in Shanghai) have been transferred to the Yichun SWI.

Yihuang

The children at the special education boarding school will continue in that school; the others will transfer to the Fuzhou SWI.
